The Mercure Southampton Centre Dolphin Hotel is the oldest hotel in Southampton dating back over
500 years. Serving throughout this period as a welcome place to rest for weary travellers.
Today the hotel is a 4 star Grade II listed building and sits in the heart of the city. Following an extensive restoration the hotel offers a modern and contemporary feel, while retaining its traditional appeal. Many of the hotel’s original features have been preserved including two of Britain’s largest bay windows.
Each of the 99 guest bedrooms are elegantly styled and reflect the hotel’s personality. Enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi in your bedroom as you relax having a tea or coffee and watching TV. All bedrooms are en suite and all have guest toiletries, iron & ironing board and safe.
HOTEL TIP:
Request a room on the old Dolphin Lane to have one of the hotels original ‘Stable rooms’ with original beams. Or try one of the hotel’s privilege rooms.
One of the two function rooms is named after the famous author Jane Austen as she celebrated her 18th birthday here in 1793. With lots of natural daylight from the large bay windows, The Dolphin is a great place for any event, wedding or meeting.
The Dolphin, as it’s known locally really is part of Southampton’s history with some of the old city walls just minutes away from the hotel. The perfect base for a Pre or Post Cruise stay, with special packages available to include secure onsite car parking. West Quay Shopping Centre, St Mary’s Football Stadium, SeaCity Museum, Tudor House and the Mayflower Theatre are all within walking distance to the hotel.
